Chicago honors Buddy Guy with street sign
What do you get for the man who has everything? Chicago hit the nail on the head when they presented Blues legend Buddy Guy with his own street earlier this month.
Guy, who turned 75 on July 30, was presented with a proclamation from Mayor Rahm Emanuel and a sign reading “Buddy Guy Way” to be placed on the street in front of Guy’s club, Legends.
Although Guy is a native of Louisiana, he moved to Chicago in 1957 to pursue his career in music and hasn’t looked back since. To this day, he continues to perform live and has upcoming gigs at the Constellation Brands PAC in Canandaigua, N.Y. with B.B. King on Aug. 26; Sept. 26 at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco; and Sept. 28 at the Van Duzer Theatre in Arcata, Calif.
Buddy Guy tickets are also available for a special performance with B.B. King and J. Geils on Aug. 27 at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y.
